CALPE council’s last plenary approved a €40.249 million municipal Budget for 2020. Two per cent more than 2019’s Budget, it takes into account “the sensibilities of all councillors,” declared Calpe’s mayor Ana Sala. Next year’s 6 per cent increase in spending will, Sala continued, improve the quality of life for everybody in Calpe.“Fiscal pressure will be contained with a 5 per cent reduction in IBI rate,” the mayor said. One of the town hall’s most important projects next year, with a €1.2 million allocation, is rehabilitating the La Manzanera Social Club, located at the water’s edge below architect Ricardo Bofill’s iconic Muralla Roja and Xanadu late 1960s’ buildings.
