Presentation of the cheque
THE choir gave a two hour concert at the Padre Manual Cultural Centre in Estepona in order to raise funds for Somos Tu Ola to help Sarah Almagro Vallejo.
Sarah suffered meningitis and sepsis resulting in the quadriplegic amputation of her hands and feet two years ago when she was just 17-years-old and will require prosthetics which will need to be replaced fairly frequently as they have a life span of between three and eight years.
Since Sarah´s life changing operation her family have been working hard, at governmental level to change legislation on co-funding for prosthetics, vaccinations for meningitis and a “Code Sepsis” to be developed and rolled out throughout Spain.
Whilst there is plenty of hard work ahead, it is still necessary to find the funds to look after Sarah and this concert which featured a selection of songs from Broadway stage musicals and Hollywood blockbusters raised €2,000 from ticket sales and donations on the night together with an extraordinary gift of €500 from a generous German benefactor.
Sarah’s mother Silvia Vallejo was invited to the Duquesa Golf Club where the choir rehearses to receive a cheque for the funds raised on behalf of her daughter.
