The La Cala de Mijas Lions hosted a Christmas Luncheon for the many volunteers that work in their Charity Shop in Calle Torremolinos, La Cala.

The lunch was attended by over 50 volunteers and Lions members and was held at El Olivio’s Restaurant in La Cala.

During the lunch there was music by Franky B who serenaded the ladies with many classic ballads.

After the lunch, the President of the Lions, Anita Humphreys, presented gifts to volunteers Stephanie Andrews, for eight years of service and Pam Borthwick for 13 years of service who were both leaving.

She also thanked Wyson Beswick who had been shop manager until June 2019 and welcomed Debbie Mottram as the new shop manager as well as thanking her for organising the event.

The President then outlined the value of the shop which had enabled the Lions to donate to €75,000 to charities within the area last year and she that the shop takings were on track to enable a similar figure to be giving to charities this year.

Current shop manager, Debbie Mottram thanked the volunteers for their continued support and wished everyone a very Happy Christmas.

After the presentations there was a raffle with over 50 prizes organised by Social Secretary Sandie Tavendale and then the dancing commenced. The dance floor was crowded but a great time was had by all.

There are plenty of bargains to be had at the charity shop and new volunteers are always welcome.
