Alfaz prepares for next year on Costa Blanca

THIRTY girls and young women will be the “Damas” in Alfaz’s Santisimo Cristo del Buen Acierto celebrations next year. The fiestas’ Queen and Juvenile Queen will be selected at a gala event to be held next year, while the remainder will be their attendants. For two consecutive years the town’s principal celebrations, which are celebrated each November, have not had a Fiestas Committee of Mayorales but members of the Peña Induccio have stepped forward to organise events for 2020. The fiestas group, which has 27 adult members and 10 children, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and is already preparing fundraising events, selling Christmas plants, national lottery tickets and raffle tickets for a Christmas hamper. The group are also organising a New Year’s Eve event that will begin in the Plaza Mayor to eat the traditional 12 grapes and toast 2020 with cava before continuing inside the municipal marquee. Tickets cost €10 on advance purchase and €15 on the night.
