THE first instalment of the Christmas Market in Almuñécar, Spain, took place last weekend, welcoming residents and visitors to a magical festive event. Organised by the Almuñécar Activa Association and the Department of Culture and Festivities, Plaza del Acueducto was filled with stalls offering local produce and seasonal gifts. Speaking about the first market, Alberto García Gilabert, Councillor for Culture, Festivities and Institutional Relations said that “the event was very lively thanks to its new location next to Plaza Mayor.” Interested residents can enjoy the market over the course of December from 10am to 7pm which takes place at Medieval in Paseo San Cristóbal, from December 6 to 9; Artisan in Paseo Altillo from December 16 to 20, and the International Constitution of Foreign Residents from December 6 to 8. At each of the markets visitors can delight in arts and crafts, homemade sweets, children’s workshops and inflatable toys. There will also be a paella to tempt your taste-buds with money raised from every plate sold donated to the Three Kings Parade and a collection of children’s items for Caritas.
