A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after two ferrets were thrown at a car in Yorkshire, England.
The man was detained by several members of the public after he was seen seen throwing the defenceless animals in Harrogate on Monday evening (December 2). He then used their carry box to smash windows and cause dents and scratches to at least a dozen vehicles.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
The ferrets are now being taken care of by the RSPCA and the police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them. In a statement they said:
“This would have been a very disturbing and alarming incident to those who witnessed it, and we are keen to speak to anyone who has information that could assist the investigation.”
