A 49-YEAR-OLD man and a 29-year-old woman are in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 7-week-old baby boy in Stoke-on-Trent in England.
Emergency services were called to Derwent Street in Cobridge at around 9pm on Tuesday evening (November 26), finding a child who was in cardiac arrest. The boy was rushed to hospital, but sadly died a few hours later.
We at Euro Weekly News understand that police have remained at the scene whilst forensics officers conduct their investigation.
In a statement by Staffordshire Police, they said:
“Detectives investigating the death of a seven-week-old baby boy on 26 November have arrested a man and a woman.
“An investigation is underway and enquiries are on-going. A 49-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody.
The death of the young child is currently being treated as unexplained. Police have said that a post-mortem examination will take place in due course and that inquiries are ongoing.
