THE Qatari royal family has confirmed their intention to invest in building a luxury hotel in Malaga’s port on the Costa del Sol.
Ramón Calderón, former president of Real Madrid and representative of the interests of the Qatarí monarchy in Spain, visited the president of the Port Authority, Carlos Rubio.
The objective of the brief meeting was to ratify the intention of the investors to carry out the project and to show their economic credentials.
This appointment occurred a month and a half after Calderon, along with the architect responsible for the project, José Seguí, met with the mayor, Francisco de la Torre. At the time the fund Al Alfia, linked to the Emirate, was presented as the driving force behind the operation.
Currently a company called Andalusian Hospitality II, is dealing with the project after a provisional concession was obtained from the Port Authority. The intention is that the new investors acquire this company once the planning formalities that the City Council of Malaga is finalising are completed.
