FELIX REDONDO, VOX’s local leader remained seated while the entire corporation and the public rose up to condemn the sexist crime.

The murder of Elena, a 44-year-old resident of Denia, did not move the local leader for Vox. He continued to sit while the entire corporation and all those attending the plenary rose to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the victim and to condemn the sexist crime.

VOX has no municipal representation, but Redondo, who was the party’s candidate in the last local elections, attends all the plenary sessions. Before the sessions begin, there is always silence for the victims of gender violence. Redondo always demonstrates his disagreement to this minute of respect and on this occasion, it was no different as he remained seated.

Elena was murdered several weeks ago by her ex-partner, Roman, 54, who snuck into the house where the woman lived together with her 11-year old daughter, in the early hours of the morning. He broke two restraining orders (he was convicted of mistreating the woman and child) and slit his victim’s throat with a knife.

María Rosa Medel, the president of Matria (a local association that helps women) reproached the leader of Vox for not respecting the minute of silence. According to La Opinion de Murcia Maria was tremendously dismayed that Redondo had no show his respect “not even when it is in commemoration for a Dénia victim”.
