GREEN MEP Molly Scott Cato who currently represents South West England (and therefore Gibraltar) has revealed that she plans is to run for a seat in the upcoming UK election for the Stroud constituency.

Her office has therefore confirmed that if successful, she will stand down from the European Parliament and if this is the case, rather than hold a new election, the next person on the Green Party regional MEP candidate list will become the next MEP for the Southwest and Gibraltar region.

Interestingly, the Liberal democrats will not be contesting the seat in Stroud, to ensure that remain votes are not split and this is part of an arrangement which includes Plaid Cymru as well in an endeavour to ensure that one remain party contests each constituency.
