ANA SALA: Calpe mayor Photo credit: Calpe town hall
CALPE mayor Ana Sala harshly criticised the acting government’s decision to remove Francisco Franco from the Valle de los Caidos. When Sala was a councillor at the time that Cesar Sanchez was in charge at Calpe town hall, she raised eyebrows on several occasions with her praise of the way of life during the late dictator’s 1939-1975 regime. “You are the worst thing that has ever happened to Spain,” Sala declared on the social media, referring to the current president Pedro Sanchez. “You desecrate tombs and commit sacrilege but obviously you aren’t aware of that because you are an atheist,” continued the mayor, who belongs to the Partido Popular. “We have just heard the worst unemployment figures since 2012 but evidently that doesn’t bother you. You have never run a business and don’t know what it’s like to exist when you have to pay taxes, mortgages and salaries.” Sala finished the message by warning Sanchez that he had “sown the seeds of his own historic memory.” — If you have enjoyed this news article, please note that our current charitable activity is on behalf of Cuidad de los Niños orphanage in Malaga.
