VELEZ Malaga has been recognised by the Network of Marine Vigilantes for its commitments to being “eco responsible”.
The deputy mayor of Torre del Mar and Councillor for Beaches of Velez-Malaga, Jesus Perez Atencia, attended the congress meeting on Friday 18 October to accept the town’s award for its marine environment initiatives.
The recognition draws direct relevance to the Sea Bed Clean Up Project that took place last month by the diving club of Torre del Mar ‘Apañao Sub’ which was organised by the Network of Marine Vigilantes.
The Marine conservation group commended the local council for their support and investment into the initiative.
Perez Atencia said that “our experience in recent years has made us understand that the work must be constant and always attending to environmental needs.”
“With more than 22 kilometres of coastline, it is essential to carry out daily work to maintain an environmental balance.”
