Turning old tyres into cosy beds for stray dogs in Brazil.

Amarilo Silva is a remarkable and creative 24 year old from the city of Campina Grande, Brazil. A former supermarket worker who in the last few years has turned his passion for animals and the environment and his creative abilities into a thriving business.

Amarilo had always been trying to fight the debris in the streets and turned what he had found into creative pieces and handicraft gifts. He noticed that the numerous stray dogs curled up in discarded tyres at night and always passionate about finding a recycling use for unwanted items he started painting the tyres he salvaged in vibrant colours and turning them into pieces of functioning art, complete with cushion bedding so the strays had somewhere warm and comfortable to sleep.

The end result caught the eye of animal charities where he became something of a celebrity whereby he started to sell his creations to pet owners. This enabled him to stop working in the supermarket and concentrate on recycling more, where he has now diversified into planters. The end results are truly amazing and a huge step in the right direction for up-cycling awareness and that a good heart and passionate hard work can bring amazing results to your life.
