Market in Marbella: Real estate is predicted to experience a slight crash but quick recovery.
Marbella Mayor Ángeles Muñoz, has announced various initiatives to boost tourism in the Costa del Sol to mitigate the potential effects of Brexit.
Munoz, who chaired the recent Tourist Innovation Forum meeting, highlighted the importance of attending tourism fairs such as Fitur and the next World Travel Market (WTM) in London, to promote Marbella as she believes that Brexit could hamper tourism on the Costa.
Marbella has already allocated a €1 million (recovered from fines from the judicial proceedings related to the corruption scandals) to strengthen the city´s brand, stated Muñoz. Some of these funds will be used to support celebrations such as the Costa del Sol’s 2023 Solheim Cup, as well as the next five editions of the Andalucian Costa del Sol Female Open, in bid to promote Marbella internationally.
The City Council has also allocated €250,000 to co-finance next year’s city promotion initiatives organised by Marbella’s newly launched branding office, together with the private sector.
