A RECORD crowd gathered to celebrate El Día del Turista de Torrox on Saturday, further cementing the town as a haven for culture and fashion in Andalucia.
According to records, a total of 12,000 people came to witness the festivities throughout the day, culminating in a spectacular performance from Spanish singer, Pitingo.
From the outset, people started to gather on the streets near the stage at the Balcon Mirador on the Avenida de El Faro to sample the range of culinary delicacies that were served at the numerous bars lining the street.
By 10.30pm the street was completely full with spectators ready to witness the finale of the festival. Spanish star Pitingo wows the crowd with some of his biggest hits and closed the curtain on the event for another year.
El Día del Turista was held as part of the ongoing Festival Internacional de las Culturas in the town which has proved to be a resounding success with multiple events, concerts and exhibitions throughout the summer.
The mayor of the town and responsible for Tourism, Oscar Medina , stressed that “the resounding success of this day would not have been possible without a good program of activities, a great team to execute it and the perfect promotion to reach all the neighbours of Torrox and surrounding visitors.”
