A COMMITMENT to tourism has been made by the mayor of Torrox and the Councillor for Tourism, Oscar Medina during an interview with Spanish press.
Media sources recently highlighted the importance of tourism since the area bloomed in the 1970’s, pointing out that as well as tropical fruit production, the tourism industry is the backbone of the region.
The mayor spent a long weekend in the town during the International Festival of Cultures and took time to reflect on the town’s achievements over the summer months, especially his choice in hosting the festival in the month of September.
“September is a good month, and how easy it would have been to put the Tourist Day in August, but we want to show that there is also life outside August, and that tourism has to be all year round.”
In his latest legislature, Medina is committed to continuing his investments into the town’s public spaces street cleaning, sports, culture and culinary offerings.
