Woman fatally stabbed trying to fight off thief

A WOMAN died after she was stabbed several times while trying to fight off a robber in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Barcelona.

According to Spanish media reports, the 26-year old victim got into a struggle with the thief in a disco in the Port Olimpic area when he tried to steal her mobile phone.

When a security guard intervened the attacker reportedly pulled a knife on them both. The young woman’s injuries proved to be fatal and she died later that night in hospital.

The Catalan Mossos d’Esquadra autonomous police have opened an investigation into the incident to try and identify and arrest the aggressor.
