THE Guardia Civil arrested two women and a man and are investigating a third male for growing marihuana in Javea. They are also charged with using a fraudulent electricity connection to force-grow the plants. According to a statement from the Guardia Civil’s provincial headquarters in Alicante, officers in Javea received a tipoff last June that marihuana was being cultivated in a local villa. A subsequent search revealed 550 marihuana plants, which were impounded, as well as €1,650 in cash, three vehicles, four mobile phones and a laptop. The women aged 23 and 38 and the 50-year-old man, who are all Spanish, were charged and later released while awaiting trial. The 37-year-old man still under investigation is also Spanish, Guardia Civil sources revealed.
