Tragic discovery in Alhaurin el Grande
NATIONAL Police in Malaga have dismantled a gang dedicated to the theft of high-end vehicles in Germany.
Eleven cars valued at more than €1 million have been recovered and three people of Danish, U.S. and Spanish nationality arrested in ‘Operation Turbo’.
They are accused of misappropriation, fraud and theft. According to police, this group set up a luxury car rental company which ‘leased’ the vehicles though other companies. These would later declare bankruptcy but not return the cars to their actual owners.
In a first phase of the investigation the National Police located in Marbella two cars reported as stolen and valued at €133,800 and €120,000 and, after analysis of the documentation involved, the agents realised the cars were being rented out through social networks.
Following a digital trail they recovered a total of 11 cars, which they say had been fraudulently obtained from companies in Germany.
