Spanish universities among world’s best

FIVE Spanish universities feature among the top 300 in the world, including one in Andalucia and one in Valencia region.

Granada and Valencia universities are both in the 201 to 300 range in the 2019 Shanghai University Academic Ranking of World University.

The ARWU was first established in 2003 and is one of the most globally respected league tables for higher education centres.

Also making it onto the list are Barcelona, the only one to make it into the top 200, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and the Complutense de Madrid.

The ranking also puts the Autonomous University of Madrid among the best 400 internationally and the universities of Oviedo, Seville, the Basque Country, the Balearic Islands and Zaragoza in the top 500.

US Ivy League university Harvard tops the list for the 17th consecutive year. Two other American universities are second and third: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford.

Cambridge and Oxford are ranked fourth and fifth respectively.A
