DGT camouflaged vehicles to catch offending drivers

BE warned: as well as using drones to catch motorists breaking driving regulations, the DGT Directorate General of Traffic is also using vans camouflaged as civil vehicles, Spanish press reported.

The DGT is initially testing out the strategy in Galicia, circulating among traffic to see whether motorists are committing traffic law violations, such as using mobiles or driving wearing wireless earpieces, according to media reports.

Given the number of festivities in August, this month the DGT has been particularly focused on detecting drivers who get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs.
