THE final preparations for ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely at this week’s Dreambeach electronic music festival in Villaricos are in place.

Cuevas del Almanzora Mayor Antonio Fernandez chaired the last meeting on the event coordination and security on Tuesday morning, which was attended by representatives from the Junta de Andalucia’s Government Delegation, Guardia Civil, Local Police, the fire service, the 112 emergency number, Civil Protection, the local health services, Traffic Management, local councillors and the festival promoters.

The representatives also visited the festival site and the camping area.

Some 160,000 electronic music fans are expected turn up at the 500,000sqm Dreambeach site right next to the beach. The event security force will be made up of more than 1,200 public and private officers.

The Cuevas Mayor thanked all the members of the security forces, emergency services and volunteers “for making possible a festival, which despite the logistical, technical and human challenge, and the large number of people who gather in the area, takes place with complete normality and without serious problems.”

Fernandez also took the opportunity to tell festival-goers to “enjoy the event and to respect the environment so we can have many more years of this festival on the privileged Cuevan coast.”

Dreambeach gets underway on Wednesday and comes to a close on Sunday
