THE president of the Junta de Andalucia and the mayor of Marbella have called on the Spanish government to extend the Cercanias line to the Costa del Sol city.
Juanma Morena and Angeles Muñoz said Madrid should commit to extending the Renfe line to Marbella and Estepona.
Morena said the extension was at the top of the agenda for his conservative Partido Popular (PP) and centrist Ciudadanos administration in the Junta.
He made the comments during a visit to Marbella where he met with Muñoz and other city council officials.
The Cercanias suburban line currently runs from Malaga City to Fuengirola. It stops at several towns popular with expatriates and holidaymakers including Benalmadena and Torremolinos.
