SIMULATION: The lifeguards recreated the situation of an a bather suffering a cardiac arrest CREDIT: Vera Council
RESCUE services operating on Vera’s beaches this summer staged a simulation of a sea rescue on Friday. A six-strong team of lifeguards supported by a rapid intervention vehicle and a rescue dinghy recreated a situation of dealing with an unconscious bather who has suffered a cardiac arrest and treating them with a semi-automatic defibrillator. Vera local police also took part in the simulation, taking responsibility for security controls, and escorting the ambulance transferring the ‘victim’. Vera Playa’s lifeguard service is operating on the Las Marinas-Bolaga, El Playazo, Cala Marques and Puerto Rey beaches daily from 11.30am to 7.30pm until September 16 and from Friday to Sunday until October 15. All the municipality’s beaches are equipped with semi-automatic defibrillators.
