NETFLIX’ new hit film starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler “Murder Mystery” has frustrated the Malaga tourist board for its portrayal of city.

Fátima Oliva, a spokeswoman for Costa del Sol tourism, has lamented the film, saying that their representation is out of date and riddled with clichés.

In the movie, Aniston and Sandler star as an American couple that travel around Europe. When they arrive into the city of Malaga they are greeted by a gypsy woman wearing a flamenco dress, a man with a guitar and a tour guide dressed in red and yellow.

They are then escorted onto an outdated tour bus with the words Gonzales Tours written on the side.

Arturo Bernal, the director general of the Costa del Sol tourism department said that he is “surprised” at their portrayal of the capital. He has criticised their lack of research into the city and invited the production company ‘Happy Madison’ to visit and see what it is really like.

Malaga has firmly established itself as the cultural capital of the Costa del Sol, with museums, art centres and theatres. It is also the go to port for the rich and famous, with a luxury port area housing luxury stores and restaurants.
