The waste collection works have signed a preliminary agreement to end the strike and return to work tomorrow.
A meeting held saturday morning (June 29) between the PP candidate mayor Angel Nozal and the strike committee for waste removal and street cleaning yielded positive results and concluded with the strike being called off as of today (July 1).
The mayor sat down and listened to the demands of the committee and struck a deal promising short term commitments and solutions to their requests.
If elected on July 5th, Nozal has promised to ensure the municipal waste collection and street workers a priority for reform and has asked the committee for patience and understanding during the process.
The strike began on June 26 and so far over 200 tonnes of waste remains uncollected.
