Prostitution ring arrests in Santiago de Compostela

THE NATIONAL Police has dismantled a prostitution ring in the Galician region of Santiago de Compostela.

The bust is part of a larger investigation between Spanish authorities and Paraguayan police into the illegal trafficking and prostitution of women from South America.

In the latest operation a total of 11 arrests were made with eight in Spain and a further three in Paraguay.

Thirteen women were released from the network thanks to the arrests. The women were brought to Spain on the promise of high paid jobs, and came from the South American countries of Nicaragua, Paraguay and Columbia.

One of the women is also reported to have recently given birth and forced to give the baby away in an illegal adoption.
