GIJON is the best place in Spain to visit with children, according to National Geographic.
“There are so many places where children can have a great time and two are linked to water,” the magazine found.
As well as the Gijon’s thermal baths, children should enjoy the Aquarium located in the same Poniente area with interactive areas and enclosures where they can touch sole, sea cucumbers, otters and penguins amongst other creatures.
National Geographic also recommended a trip to the Railway Museum: “Great for kids who have never seen a steam engine,” the article commented.
The magazine also found this coastal city on the Bay of Biscay good for dog-owners.
Gijon has more than 50,000 dogs and there is a dogs-permitted beach as well as hundreds of parks where they allowed, a feature that National Geographic pointed out is an increasingly for family holidays.
