Galicia receives lowest pension increase in Spain

THE average pension in Galicia rose in May to €839.

The 5 per cent increase from the same period the previous year still sees Galicia have the second lowest increase in Spain.

The only region with lower pension increase was Extremadura, at €823.61 a month, while Galicia’s rates are still around €150 lower than the national average of €990.  The region with the highest pension in the Basque Country, at €1,231 a month.

The average Galician benefits rates for a permanent disability pension is €875.37 euros, compared to €972.46 euros in Spain across Spain.  For orphans the figure is €398.93, compared to €404.46 across Spain.
