SPANISH households pay some of the highest electricity bills of any in the EU, according to data from the bloc.
The Eurostat statistics agency found the average Spanish family pays almost 2.2 cents per kilowatt-hour, more than double that of Germany, France, Italy and Portugal.
The figures showed those who used the least electricity found themselves paying more per kilowatt-hour on average because of costs in bills which remain the same regardless of usage.
