Oldest man in Spain with Down syndrome celebrates 74th birthday

THE oldest man in Spain with Down syndrome has celebrated his 74^th birthday at a party organised by his carer.

Gerardo Alonso Estupiñan, who lives in Tenerife, was surrounded by friends, family and colleagues at a party at the day centre he attends.

The event in Telde was also attended by two mariachis to serenade Gerardo, who loves music and plays several instruments.  The pensioner has lived with a family member since his parents died and has been attending a local day centre for several years.
