THREE Bulgarian woman have been arrested on suspicion of pickpocketing in Malaga’s Muelle Uno commercial centre.
The women are accused of distracting two tourists before stealing a mobile phone and pair of glasses.
Police claim one woman pretended to trip before another took the chance to take the items out of the tourist’s bag at around 4.30pm in Plaza de la Marina. A civilian volunteer group tasked with keeping an eye out for thefts allegedly noticed the suspects behaving suspiciously and so started watching them.
The group claim they witnessed the women steal from the tourists. Police intervened and prevented the suspects fleeing before arresting them. They also returned the stolen items to the victims, including a pair of glasses valued at €150, a mobile phone worth €200, and €125 in cash.
Police allege the suspects are the same people who carried out similar thefts in the area.
