THREE people have been arrested by National Police in Alicante, Elche and Orihuela for allegedly forming part of a criminal gang that preyed on the elderly and vulnerable, tricking them to gain entry into their homes to then rob them.
The two women and one man, aged between 31 and 55, belonged to a family clan that operated across the whole of Alicante Province.
They would allegedly choose their victims in advance, picking those that wouldn’t be able to fight back.
The gang members used a ploy pretending to be family members, neighbours or friends and once inside the property one would distract the owner and engage in conversation while the other two searched the house for valuable items such as jewellery and money.
The criminal group were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation by the District Police of Alicante City and have been charged with four burglaries, although between the three they had already racked up 64 offences.
