THE Provincial Court of Malaga has sentenced a man to 11 years in prison for raping a waitress. He is banned from contacting her or getting within 500 metres for 17 years, and has been ordered to compensate her €33,000. The incident took place in Torremolinos in October 2017, and the man has not only been convicted of rape and injury, but of robbery with intimidation. The Court noted the “brutality” of the crime, with violence that was both physical and sexual, the aggressor becoming enraged “because the woman had rejected his repeated advances.” When the woman went into the kitchen, the detainee hid himself and waited until he was the only remaining customer on the premises. He then sprang out and beat her, and threatened the woman that he would kill her if she did not let him rape her. The victim relented and the detainee even robbed the till before leaving.
