Spain’s Met office (AEMET) have activated orange level weather warnings on the Costa del Sol ahead of tomorrow (Tuesday). Heavy rains and strong winds are expected to return to Andalucia and AEMET are predicting the the worst of the rain to fall on the Costa del Sol, Axarquia and the Guadalhorce valley between the hours of 8am and 3pm tomorrow. AEMET are projecting that up to 30 litres of rainfall per square metre will fall during the stated hours. Between 6am and 8am, a yellow level warning has also been instated across these areas. The heavy rains are expected to decrease in intensity after 3pm. Warnings have also been declared for strong winds with gusts reaching as much as 70km per hour on the Costa del Sol. As a result, AEMET have put a yellow warning for winds in place from 6am to 6pm tomorrow. Further inland, Antequera and Campillos, which suffered heavy flooding on October 21, are at present under a yellow level of advisory ahead of tomorrow’s rainfall. However, the rains are expected to subside by Thursday morning and highs of 22 degrees are expected to return to the Costa del Sol this coming weekend.
