FLOODY HELL: Rain in Spain leads to road closures, landslides and emergency plan activations

THE 112 Andalucia emergency control centre has already been flooded with more than 50 calls for assistance as severe weather warnings remain in place on the Costa del Sol, Malaga and across much of Andalucia.


Emergency flood plans have been activated in Malaga city and in Coin in the Guadalhorce Valley.
More than a dozen municipalities in Malaga province have recorded incidents Velez-Málaga, Antequera, Estepona, Alhaurín de la Torre, Mija, Coín and Torremolinos.
Up to a dozen roads have been affected by flooding or landslides and the N-331 in Antequera is totally closed in both directions between kilometres 110 and 114.
The torrential rains have also left a nursing assistant slightly injured after a section of ceiling fell at the Hospital Civil in Malaga.
