Two drowning deaths in Spain’s Canary Islands

A BATHER and diver have drowned in separate incidents in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura in Spain’s Canary Islands.
A man in his 60s who was bathing with two children lost his life on Saturday afternoon at La Lajita beach in Gran Canaria. He was rescued by a private boat that took him to shore where CPR was administered but he lost his life.
And a 25-year-old spear-fishing diver died near the Faro de la Entellada on the island of Fuerteventura. A call to the emergency services alerted them that he had not returned to shore.
Two people found him and performed CPR until the emergency services arrived but he died while being airlifted to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura.
