JUST a week after Primera Air went bust the holiday giant Jet2 has announced a big increase in the number of flights available for passengers looking for winter sun, particularly to Spain.
The airline has announced it is adding another 300,000 seats on flights from the Midlands to holiday hotspots including Spain and the Canary Islands.
Jet2 is planning to increase the number of flights it operates in and out East Midlands Airport at Castle Donington as part of an expanded Winter Sun Programme for 2019/20.
The airline says there will be more services and seats to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, with more than 135,000 seats on sale across the four islands.
To mainland Spain an additional flights and almost 100,000 seats will be on sale to Alicante (up to six services per week) and Malaga-Costa del Sol (up to four services per week).
There will also be more flights to Portugal and Cyprus.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “This is our biggest and most exciting Winter Sun programme ever, giving customers from East Midlands Airport even more choice and flexibility when it comes to escaping the long British winter.
“As ever, we have designed our programme in direct response to demand from holidaymakers, so as well as continuing to offer more flights and holidays to popular winter hotspots such as the Canaries and Spain we are not done yet, with even more exciting announcements about our Winter 19/20 programme coming soon.”
