AIRPORT LUGGAGE: Baggage handlers investigated (File photograph). Picture credit: Shutterstock
A FLIGHT passenger filmed a baggage handler in Spain opening a suitcase, retrieving a speaker and putting it in his pocket. The witness reportedly caught the act on camera while onboard a Ryanair flight from Ibiza to Madrid, before alerting an air steward. Police apparently convinced the man to confess before returning the stolen item back to its rightful owner, a teenage boy who was travelling to the Spanish capital with his mum. The suspect, who is understood to have been sacked after just three days in the job, now faces trial. In the footage he can be seen opening the case on a luggage trolley before searching the contents with one hand and putting the red speaker in his left trouser pocket. The incident happened on Friday morning. The boy’s mother told a Spanish newspaper that she was grateful the police had returned the speaker to her immediately as had bought it for her son’ birthday. https://youtu.be/2M_7TZi9MZg
