Worker dies after suffering burns in petrol station explosion

A WORKER who was seriously injured in an explosion at a petrol station in Los Barrios, Cadiz has died in hospital.

The man suffered burns to 70% of his body while performing maintenance tasks and a colleague suffered a cut leg in the incident. A third man escaped injured.

The mayor of Los Barrios said that he hopes that the facts of this “unfortunate accident” will soon be clarified because “events like this show that there is still a lot of work to be done in prevention, and I think we have to involve everybody, institutions, workers’.

The deceased was an experienced worker who had been with the company for eight years. 

Police are investigating the accident and believe that security cameras of the facility will be key to explaining the cause of the explosion.
