THREE members of a sex trafficking network in Ibiza have been arrested.
Police have also released seven young women who were held captive by the Romanian organisation – two were in Spain and five in Romania.
According to police, the gang tricked Romanian women into coming with them to Spain and then forced them to work as street prostitutes.
The organisation allegedly lured in young women from low social and economic backgrounds and promised them a better life.
It is believed that the organizers of the prostitution ring constantly monitored the women and then took all of their earnings.
If the victims tried to leave they suffered all manner of threats and abuse from their “controllers”. Any women who tried to contact the police were sent back to Romania where they were also held captive.
