NATIONAL POLICE officers swam 40 metres in full uniform across the Rio Guadalquivir to save a man suffering cardiac arrest in Sevilla.
A witness had seen the man fall into the river and called the police.
An officer arrived within minutes, diving straight in and taking the unconscious man to a nearby bridge pillar where he was found to be in a state of cardiac arrest.
A second officer arrived shortly after who also dived in to aid his colleague.
First aid was administered whilst they coordinated with fire crews and awaited an ambulance.
Firefighters transferred the man to shore via boat where he was then attended by medical services.
Once stabilised he was transferred to the Virgen del Rocio University Hospital.
