Man arrested over rape of British tourist in Malaga

THE NATIONAL POLICE has arrested a 34-year-old man after he allegedly raped a British tourist in Malaga centre.

The incident occurred during the early hours in a nightclub on Calle Luis de Velazquez. After a friend of the victim warned bouncers, the doormen interviewed the girl.

The 19-year-old British girl told them that the accused had started to kiss her and refused to stop when asked.

After being unable to find the alleged rapist, the security team notified authorities. National Police then launched an investigation and interviewed the victim. She stated that they had met in the nightclub lounge, and proceeded to kiss. After asking the Spaniard to stop, he allegedly continued to force himself on the teen.

According to investigators, the Spanish man had previously assaulted his ex-wife after she refused to have sex with him in a public place.

After obtaining CCTV footage from the nightclub, and interviewing staff at the facility, investigators identified and arrested the suspect.

According to police, the detainee frequently contradicted himself in his statement and as a result will be brought before the court over charges of sexual assault.
