The butcher's shop where a man was shot
A MUSLIM butcher has been shot in Altea, Alicante.
The incident occurred at 11am this morning, when an unidentified man walked into the victim’s premises on calle Metge Adolfo Quiles on the town’s high street and opened fire.
It comes as witnesses reported the attacker fleeing in a high-end sports car and he remains at large, while the wounded man was taken away in an ambulance with one leg covered in blood.
The owner of the halal business is a cousin of Adil Anouar Merabet, an alleged jihadist who was last year held for using social media to indoctrinate potential militant recruits.
At the time of his arrest in October detectives raided the butcher’s and seized a computer hard drive thought to contain evidence regarding the suspect’s links to Daesh.
