POLICE have arrested a couple in Seville after their six-month-old infant was rushed to Virgen Macarena Hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation began after hospital staff raised concerns over the toddler’s medical report, detailing a skull fracture and severe damage to the newborn’s eyes.
The parents, currently detained by the National Police, have requested habeas corpus on two occasions. Police have rejected both applications and intend to keep them behind bars until the case is brought to court.
The 19-year-old father has an extensive history of violent robbery and the mother, after prematurely giving birth to the 3.3 pound child whilst incarcerated, was released from jail in February.
