A COUPLE has been sentence to five and a half years in prison for abusing their three-month-old baby.
The parents would ‘habitually mistreat’ their child and broke several bones on numerous occasions.
It was only when the infant was taken into Alicante General Hospital that suspicions arose, and upon scanning, staff found numerous injuries in different stages of healing.
The judge said the pair took advantage of the young age of the victim and his “inability to resist or defend himself” to cause numerous traumas.
The Torrellano couple have also been prohibited from seeing or communicating with their child for seven and a half years and have been ordered to pay €2,670 in compensation.
