Sergio Garcia receives his green jacket from last year’s champion Danny Willet
SPANISH golfer Sergio Garcia has won the 2017 Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in a playoff against England’s Justin Rose to claim the title and the green jacket.
Garcia, the 37-year-old Spaniard making his 19th Masters appearance, won a sudden-death playoff at the 18th hole to decide the 81st Masters Tournament.
Both Garcia and Rose, who went into the final day tied, had shot 3-under-par 69s.
It is the first major championship for the Spaniard, and it came on a special day. Sunday would have been the 60th birthday of the late Seve Ballesteros, a two-time Masters champion.
