Semana Santa kicks off in Malaga

THE two weeks of processions are set to begin for Semana Santa in Malaga this Friday (March 31).

Numerous churches and brotherhoods will carry religious idols throughout the city centre for the duration of the festivities.

Here is a list of the weekend’s marches:

Friday March 31

Estudiantes

Starts at 22.00. The route will commence at the Santo Cristo de la Salud Church and run through Compañia, La Plaza de la Constitucion, Granada street, Carbon square, Siglo Square, Granada street, Jesus Castellanos square, San Agustin, Cister, Alcazabilla and Casa Hermandad.

Crucifixion

Starts at 20.30. The route will commence at the Parroquia del Buen Pastor and go through Plazuela del Cristo de la Crucifixion, Diego de Siloe and end at Casa Hermandad.

Nueva Esperanza

Starts at 20.30. The route will commence at the Parroquia de Santa Ana y San Joaquin and go through Camino de los Castillejos, Magistrado Salvador Barbera, Blas de Otero, Ministerio de la Vivienda, Rosas, Magistrado Salvador Barbera, Camino de los Castillejos, and end at Casa Hermandad.

Rescate

Starts at 21.00. The route will start at the Chapel on Calle Agua and go through to Casa Hermandad.

Saturday April 1

Cena

Starts at 11.45. The route will commence at the Parroquia de los Santos Martires and go through Santos Martires square, Comedias, Nosquera, Muro de la Catalinas, Arco de la Cabeza, Virgen de las Penas square, Pozos Dulces, Compañia and Casa Hermandad.

Sunday April 2

Pollinica

Starts at 18.30. The route will commence at San Agustin Church and go through, Granada street, Merced square, Madre de Dios, Montaño, Montaño square, Guerrero, Plazuela Santisimo Cristo de la Sangre, Parras and end at Casa Hermandad.

 

Humildad y Paciencia

Starts at 17.30. The route will commence at Parroquia de la Divina Pastora y Santa Teresa and run through La Union, Alfambra, Camino de San Rafael, Amarguillo, La Union, Pedro de Paz, Reboul and end at Casa Hermandad.

Prendimiento

Starts at 17.30. The route will commence at Parroquia de la Divina Pastora y Santa Teresa and will go through Plaza de Capuchinos, Eduardo Domínguez Ávila, San Juan Bosco, Hospital psiquiátrico del Sagrado Corazón, Moya, Montserrat, Alameda de Barceló, Eduardo Domínguez Ávila, Alameda de Capuchinos, Miguel Bueno Lara, plaza Maestro Artola, San Millán, Jesús del Prendimiento and end at Casa Hermandad.

Columna

Starts at 17.30. The route will commence at the Parroquia de los Santos Martires and go through Plaza de los Santos Mártires, Comedias, Méndez Núñez, plaza de Uncibay, Casapalma, Cárcer, plaza de Jerónimo Cuervo, Ramos Marín, Gómez Pallete, plaza de la Merced, Frailes and end at Casa Hermandad.

Sangre

Starts at 12.00. The route will commence at Capilla del Molinillo and go through Ollerías, de los Cristos, plaza de los Cristos, Ermitaño, Huerto de Monjas, Ollerías, Cruz del Molinillo, convento de las Madres Mercedarias, San Bartolomé, Capuchinos, Cruz del Molinillo, Alderete and end at Casa Hermandad.

Penas

Starts at 19.30. The route will commence at Oratorio de Santa Maria Reina and go through Entronización del Cristo de las Penas.
