MAKING his 110th appearance for his country, David Silva, the Manchester City midfielder, opened the scoring in Spain’s 4-1 win over Israel on Friday.

He has now scored 29 goals for his national team, putting him level with Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro and nine behind Fernando Torres in third place.

Goals from Vitolo, Diego Costa and Isco made the win a comfortable one for Spain, with Lior Refaelov getting one back for the visitors.

Spain remain top of Group G in their World Cup qualifying campaign, just ahead of Italy on goal difference.
