POLICE have dismantled an organisation that changed stained stolen banknotes from robberies in France.
The gang attempted to change €120,000 – acquired from several bank and money transport robberies – that were stained in different colours due to anti-theft systems.
The assailants would claim the money had been stained with vehicle coolant before requesting clean banknotes from branches across the country.
Six people were arrested during raids in Madrid, La Junquera and Ceuta and almost €90,000 was seized.
